Players of Icy Tower come to the aid of Harold the Homeboy to climb an icy tower and hopefully save the day. The action involves jumping from platform to platform until you reach the very top of the tower. This is more difficult than it looks at first, as missing even a single platform will send players hurtling back to the bottom of the tower and they will have to start their climb all over again.

In addition to the standard character, players will have the chance to download a whole host of popular and instantly recognisable characters such as Mario, Sonic and even Bart Simpson. If this doesn’t manage to inject enough fun into the game, you can also create a new character of your very own.

As you would expect, levels become progressively harder the closer you reach to the top of the tower. There are a hundred floors to try and conquer in total and the upper floors can be very difficult indeed. The game’s addictive quality will inspire players to keep on climbing no matter how many times they fall in the quest for success.

One of the elements that prevents the game from getting too repetitive is the fact that players can create their own challenge to complete. It is possible to make this as easy or as difficult as you want to take it easy for a while or really put your new skills to the test.

Despite this added bonus, Icy Tower can be rather repetitive and people who have a short attention span may find it rather dull after a while. The special combons that help players reach new heights can be rather tricky to master, while the lack of a difficulty setting leaves the game feeling a bit flat once players have mastered the skills that they need to get to the top of the tower.
